Screenplay Editing

Screenplay is truly a medium unlike any other, and a knowledgeable editor is especially important. Good software, like Celtx or FinalDraft, will do the basic formatting for you, but you need a person who understands the genre to help you with the details. The film industry is a highly competitive one, and you want your script to be professionally put together so that you can give the best possible impression.

I studied screenwriting at the University of Victoria for four years, and my feature script, Flightless, has been shortlisted in screenwriting competitons at the Women in Film + Television Vancouver International Film Festival and in the Slamdance Film Festival.

Film is my passion, and I can help you hone your writing style, craft a compelling narrative, and format your script like a pro.

Story Edit

When you send me your screenplay, I will provide a 1,000 word script analysis on story structure, character, dialogue, and clarity as well as in-line edits throughout the document.

I will help you:

  • Structure and pace your story so that it draws in viewers
  • Determine if every character is necessary to the story
  • Ensure that your story reaches a satisfactory conclusion
  • Eliminate unnecessary descriptions
  • Tighten your dialogue

For a story edit, I can accept PDFs, Celtx files or FinalDraft files.

Line Edit

Screenplays follow their own very specific stylebook, and the way that a writer adheres to that style is one way that professional filmmakers can tell if a writer knows their stuff. When I line edit of your screenplay, I will not only clean up any inconsistencies and grammar hiccups, I will also make sure that your formatting is flawless.

In a line edit, I will ensure that your screenplay:

  • Uses capitalization properly
  • Adheres to the industry standard style guide for screenplays
  • Includes sharp dialogue
  • Doesn’t have inconsistencies
  • Has perfect grammar and punctuation

Please note that due to software limitations, line edits must be done in FinalDraft.
